The Green Lantern Pub is an anchor to the local community of Copalis Beach and a must-stop destination for tourists traveling to the coast of Grays Harbor County. With a long history that spans back to 1916, the iconic green building stands out with a warm welcome to those who want to enjoy a local brew on tap or dine in for the rib special on Saturday evenings. The bar features Hoquiam Brewing Company and Steam Donkey Brewing, both located in Aberdeen.

The inside was completely remodeled in January of 2021 and the look and feel is modern while keeping the original character and charm of a beach town pub. You’ll find a pool table, shuffleboard and even a jukebox next to the fire. The bar is a great place to watch a Seahawks game, play pull tabs or enjoy the company of the staff, who are fun and engaging. Because so many families travel to the Grays Harbor coast to enjoy clam digs, the Green Lantern Pub has made this a family-friendly location that is casual and inviting. All ages are welcome during all business hours. They serve breakfast on the weekends and clam chowder is always on the menu. Their burgers are a popular lunch item as well as the broasted chicken and joes.

In 2013, Rick and Claire Hall took over ownership and were inspired by the locals and their passion for living and working by the ocean. “The people make this place charming,” said Claire. “Visitors from out of town meet the locals and become friends. It’s a beach community and a very social place that brings great people together. We are located in the heart of some of the best beaches for razor clamming in Washington State and get many visitors throughout the year who always stop in before or after a clam dig.”

When I visited, a family of 15 was celebrating a birthday and enjoying the Friday night prime rib special. They had traveled to the coast from Kingston, Washington and have been coming to the Green Lantern Pub for 23 consecutive years. “My son just turned 29 and we are here celebrating his birthday,” shared on party-goer, “we’ve been taking him razor clamming here since he was 6-years-old.”

The Green Lantern Pub offers a large outdoor seating area and beer garden. It is open year-round and patrons are able to bring their dogs into the grassy area to join them. Summer afternoons bring live music to the outdoor stage, creating an exceptional gathering spot for visitors. The aesthetic is welcoming with plenty of picnic tables arranged over the grass and decorated with string lights.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife offers the Shellfishing Regulation page on their website to help navigate current razor clam seasons and beaches. The dining area can get really busy a couple of hours before and after the tide windows, but the service is fast and well prepared for these busy times. “I just really appreciate the locals and clamming community,” shared Sir Wallace, a server.

“This is the best place on the north beach, everyone loves it,” added Kendal Peterson, another server.
